The RAID® course
"One of the best organised and thought-out courses I have been on. I speak as a course participant but also a trainer of 20 years experience"
Social worker
In 3 days you will cover a great deal:
RAIDing (Reinforce Appropriate, Implode Disruptive) gives a clear, proactive and relentlessly positive philosophy for working with extreme behaviour.
Already attended by 11,000 UK professionals, RAIDing is especially relevant for staff working in secure and semi-secure environments. RAIDing provides a positive approach to be proud of, developing appropriate 'green' behaviour so that it simply overwhelms the problems behaviours in question. Importantly though, RAIDing also tells you;
How to 'catch people out doing things right' ... how to spot green behaviour you previously hadn't.
Why it is important to make people's lives rewarding ... and how to do it.
The difference between rules and ground-rules ... and why the latter are much more effective than the former.
How to give constructive criticism in place of just plain criticism ... and why one works well while the other is usually counterproductive.
The two major options you have, when faced with red behaviour ... how important it is you make the right decision and how to make sure you do.
Why looking to the future is usually much more effective than looking backwards when working with extreme behaviour ... and the 3 ways to encouraging that to happen. Also, the vital reason we sometimes have to look backwards.
How responding to certain personality characteristics can short-circuit a lot of hard work and lead to sustained improvement.
What those characteristics are, and how to respond.
What a person is really saying by their behaviour ... and how to respond.
The two factors that underlie the finding that the relationship is the best single predictor of success or failure in a therapeutic enterprise ... and how to have both those factors become routine.
Why your own personal qualities are crucial ... and how to use them.
How to maintain your own morale and that of your colleagues ... vital in this demanding area of work.
